"Words" ![]() Words can have a way of affecting us all deeply. I was reminded of this fact yet again this morning when I heard a song by Craig Morgan called “Almost Home”.
It paints a picture of a homeless man who’s woken from a dream where he’s reminiscing being a little boy. Those lyrics resonate to my core and I think if you hear them they’ll do the same for you. They humanize someone who is down and out.
I have been trying to write such a song all my life. And lately I’ve been working on a song called “Words” that is based on the concept of the power of words.
This came about because of something someone said to me. She said; “Who else could tolerate you, like I do?” Those words cut to the bone and made me totally re-evaluate that relationship. I must say that the damage is, in my view, irreparable.
I fault myself. How could a few words be allowed to torpedo a decade’s long relationship? These words didn’t end the affiliation, but they did change the nature of our bond.
It is with this thought in mind that I began the song “Words”.
When I say I began work on this song, it’s not really on paper or in notes on the guitar or piano, but it’s still all in my head. I hope the “Words” come to me quickly. Sometimes these things have a way of staying bottled up inside my mind for decades.
Here’s to hoping all “Words” that affect you so completely are positive in nature and in their effects.

This is wonderful blog I love that song by Craig Morgan, whenever I hear that song I cry, it has such a deep meaning. You are so right words can affect us positively or negatively, I was always told growing up if you can say something uplifting don’t say anything at all. The world would be a happier place; a more peaceful place if everyone would take that advice and understand the hurt words can cause hurt or happiness.
