I've long been a proponent of supporting your favorite Indie-Unsigned artists by buying their CD's or individual cuts of their music.

I've always seen the Independent music scene as something with HUGE potential for artists and music fans since the advent of the Internet. The only problem is it seems many people simply want everything for free.And as any struggling musician will tell you, recording equipment, studio time and the blood, sweat and tears expended are not cheap.

It was inevitable that innovation would raise it's lovely, entrepreneurial head and here's the latest.

I like it.

Getting the bands financed but also enabling fans to share in the revenues and trade in and out of the bands.

Sort of a musical stock market on line.

Independent music sites are nothing new, but this concept is, in that it allows fans to "buy contracts that entitle them to a return based on the number of singles and albums sold by the Artist over a 2 year period."

Then, you as an investor in the band can trade or sell your interest in an act on the SliceThePie Exchange.

Will it work? I have no idea. But, it's just different enough from some of the other business models that I'll be watching it closely.

In fact, I'll be watching it very closely.

I'm on my way to see if I can get some investors for my Indie Music project.

It's great to see people looking for ways to utilize the power of the web and the capitalistic spirit to empower music.
