Birthin' a song! ![]() BIRTHIN' A SONG:
I'm not going to pretend that I can even begin to comprehend the difficulty of giving birth. I've not even been at a live birth, excepting my own, and my memory's a little fuzzy on that experience, at least on something other than a subconscious; "I'll never be the same" level. I do, however, know the pain of delivery! Just ask me I'll tell you. Writing a song follows all of the normal cycles of life. There's the passion that gets you in trouble in the first place, with the courtship, conception, fear, hopefulness, hopelessness and then the joy and pain that follows the blessed event. Song writing for me sometimes begins with a phrase, musical or lyrical and then just kind of grows from there. Sometimes it's a virtual explosion and I have a pre-mature musical completion. Yeah; something done in minutes. Other songs, I've been writing for 20-30 years. Sometimes my songs get confused with each other also like birth. They merge into one another. I've been known to have conjoined twins even triplets and there have been the occasional quartets, but let's not haggle over multiples. As I continue moving towards this first CD, I've been considering showing the evolution of the recording process on my website. I've re-recorded Michael's Melody maybe 6 times. Then I got to thinking that as I began to write new music I could expose a similar writing project. I don't know if it would interest anyone other than me, but it would be a cathartic experience. I, right now have probably ten songs all begun in the past year that require completion. Erstwhile, I'll go nuts, knowing they're not done. So, you never know, this could be either very interesting or the most boring, self indulgent project ever. I guess I'll find out when I see the musical head start to breech the ... Oh wait maybe I've gone too far. Wish me luck. Michael Michael's Original Music Michael's Morning Show 2006-06-30 01:54:05 GMT

Sometimes I hesitate to finish for fear of failing. Sometimes I hesitate because I am just not sure I'll be able to find something else to do. Whatever it is...brother, I sure know what you mean! Good luck! And I'll take it as inspiration when your project(s) are finished!
