Recently, I found myself at a website called FAWM. February Album Writing Month.

It is a website where they challenge the songwriter to write 14 songs in 28 days and submit them. The final winners were chosen to be on a compilation CD.

I signed up for the next competition, but February is a long time to wait.

However, the basic concept intrigued me. Forced creation may not always be good, but at least it is creation, and who knows you might find a gem in amongst all that  chaff.

I’ve BLOGGED before in “The Burden Is ON You”, attempting to put the responsibility of MY success squarely on YOUR shoulders. OK, perhaps that wasn’t completely fair, so I’ve come up with a compromise.

Four songs in one month.

A song a week.

As I write this it is Monday July 31^st, 2006. It is my intent to write and record (ever so roughly) FOUR songs and have them posted on the web, one a week, by August 31^st.

This is basic singer-songwriter stuff here. No fancy productions. Most likely what you’ll hear is songs at their most primal, visceral level. Simple guitar or piano and vocal and chord progressions and lyrics, lyrics, lyrics.

However; I’m not going to totally let you off the hook. It is my hope that YOU will help me out in this new, fun and hopefully interesting and productive quest.

Throw out ideas. Inspirations for songs you’d like to hear. Be it serious or goofy, if you have an idea why not drop me a line or leave a comment, you never know what might come from this little seed that is planted.

I don’t promise anything astounding or earth shattering, but I do promise you and myself, I will accomplish this venture.
